Adobe PDF format has established itself as the leading format for publishing documents on the internet. There are some reasons for this, on the one side because Adobe is a leading software company and on the other side because PDF is a flexible container for all kinds of data like text, pictures, vector data. And not to forget a free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on millions of machines all over the world making it possible to view PDF’s everywhere.

You can compare fileformats with each other at webdemo.thbimage.com Jbig2 joined the PDF standard in 2001 and Jpeg2000 joined the PDF standard in 2003, which means that you can embed jbig2 and jpeg2000 compressed pictures or documents into PDF files.

If you create and distribute PDF’s containing Jpeg2000 or Jbig2 you need at least Acrobat Reader 6.0 to view it. Keep this in mind.
